Asbestos is a naturally occurring fibrous mineral that was commonly used in the construction and manufacturing industries from the 1950s until the 1980s. Asbestos was widely used because of its incredible strength, durability, and resistance to heat, chemicals and electricity. Asbestos can be found in multiple products, including roofing sheets, insulation, floor tiles, and cement. Though the material has been banned from use in the UK since 1999 due to its health risks, the damage has already been done.

These diseases can take up to five decades to develop, and once diagnosed, they are often fatal. Therefore, asbestos removal is critical in minimizing the risk of exposure.
