Asbestos was commonly used in building materials up until the 1990s, mainly for its insulation and fire resistance properties. It was found in everything from insulation, floor tiles, roof shingles, and even in vehicle parts.

Although asbestos is no longer used in construction today, buildings constructed before 2000 may still contain hidden asbestos materials, putting the lives of occupants at risk.

Asbestos fibers are tiny and can easily become airborne when disturbed, such as during renovations, demolition, or even when cracks develop in the asbestos-containing materials. These dust particles can linger in the air for hours, days, or even weeks, making it easy for people to inhale them.

Once ingested, asbestos fibers become embedded in the lungs, causing various respiratory problems, including mesothelioma, asbestosis, and lung cancer. These conditions can take years or even decades to manifest, making it difficult to diagnose and treat.
