An asbestos survey is a thorough inspection of a building to identify any ACMs and assess their condition. The purpose of the survey is to ensure that any ACMs are identified and managed in a safe and appropriate manner to prevent exposure to harmful asbestos fibres.

There are two types of asbestos survey:

1. Management Survey: This is a non-intrusive survey that is designed to locate any ACMs that could be disturbed during normal occupation and use of a building. This survey is suitable for buildings that are being used for their intended purpose and where no refurbishment or demolition work is planned.

2. Refurbishment/Demolition Survey: This is a more intrusive survey that is designed to identify any ACMs that could be disturbed during refurbishment or demolition work. This survey is suitable for buildings that are undergoing major refurbishment or are scheduled for demolition.
