A management survey is the most common type of asbestos survey and is designed to locate the presence and condition of any ACMs. The survey will involve a visual inspection of the property and sampling any materials that are suspected of containing asbestos. A management survey will only look at the areas of the building that are readily accessible.

A refurbishment or demolition survey is a more intrusive survey and is designed to locate all ACMs before any refurbishment or demolition work takes place. The survey will involve an inspection of all areas of the building, including those that are not easily accessible. Samples of all suspected ACMs will be taken as part of the survey.
