An asbestos survey is a detailed inspection of a property to identify any asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) and assess their condition. ACM's can include anything from insulation, floor tiles, roofing sheets and more.

There are two types of asbestos surveys:

• Management Survey: This is the standard asbestos survey, which is conducted on all commercial properties to locate and record details of ACMs. The surveyor may take samples, but no destructive work is undertaken.
• Refurbishment/Demolition Survey: This survey is required before any major refurbishment or demolition works to locate and record all ACMs present in the areas where the works are due to take place. The surveyor may need to access all areas of the property and take samples of suspected ACMs.
