Management survey

A management survey is the standard survey required on any building, irrespective of its age or type, to identify ACMs that could be disturbed or damaged during normal occupancy or maintenance. The management survey involves finding and recording the location of any suspect ACMs that are reasonably practical to access; this often involves a visual inspection of the building and collecting material samples, which are then analyzed in a laboratory.

Refurbishment/Demolition survey

A refurbishment/demolition survey is needed before any refurbishment or demolition work takes place. Refurbishment/demolition surveys are more extensive than management surveys and involve more destructive inspection and sampling, as walls, ceilings, and floors are systematically removed. The purpose of the refurbishment/demolition survey is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, all ACMs in the area where the refurbishment, or demolition will take place.

Management Surveys
