An asbestos survey is a vital part of asbestos management in any property. Its the only way to determine whether a building has asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) or not. Asbestos surveys are divided into two types:

1. Management Asbestos Surveys

These surveys are non-intrusive, where a surveyor will inspect the property and take samples of any suspected ACMs. The samples are then analysed in a laboratory, and the results will determine whether there are any ACMs in the building. The surveyor will also determine the condition of the materials and risk of damage, advising you on the best course of action to ensure the safety of everyone in the building.

2. Refurbishment or Demolition Asbestos Surveys

These surveys are intrusive and are required when a property is going to undergo refurbishment or demolition. The surveyor will inspect the property and take samples of any suspected ACMs, but this time, they are more invasive, and the samples will be taken from the core of the materials. The surveyor will then provide a report detailing the location, condition, and overall risk of the ACMs in the property.
