An asbestos survey is a thorough inspection of a propertys structure and materials to detect any asbestos-containing substances. There are two types of asbestos surveys: management surveys and refurbishment/demolition surveys. A management survey is the less invasive one and aims to identify and manage any ACMs that could pose a risk to occupants, visitors, or workers. This type of survey is mandatory under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 for non-domestic properties. A refurbishment/demolition survey is more intrusive and aims to locate and describe any ACMs that could be disturbed during a major refurbishment or demolition project. This type of survey is necessary before any demolition, refurbishment, or significant alteration of a building or structure.
