An asbestos survey is a detailed inspection of a building or structure to identify any materials that may contain asbestos. During an asbestos survey, a qualified asbestos surveyor will inspect your property and take samples of any suspected asbestos-containing materials. These samples will then be sent to a laboratory for testing to confirm the presence of asbestos.

There are three types of asbestos surveys that can be carried out:

• Management Survey - This is the standard survey that is required for all non-domestic buildings that were constructed before the year 2000. This survey is designed to locate the presence and extent of any asbestos-containing materials in the building.

• Refurbishment Survey - This survey is required before any refurbishment or demolition work can take place in a building. The survey is designed to locate any asbestos-containing materials that may be disturbed during the refurbishment work.

• Demolition Survey - This survey is required before any demolition work can take place in a building. The survey is designed to locate any asbestos-containing materials that may be disturbed during the demolition work.
