Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that was widely used in construction, insulation, and other industries due to its heat resistance, strength, and durability. Asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) were used in many buildings constructed or refurbished before the year 2000, such as ceiling tiles, pipe lagging, boiler insulation, textured coatings, and floor tiles.
