Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that was widely used in the construction industry as insulation, fireproofing, and soundproofing material in the past. Though it was once thought to be a miracle material due to its durability and resistance to heat and chemicals, the dangers of asbestos exposure became clear in the 1970s.

Asbestos fibres are incredibly small and can easily be inhaled, leading to serious health issues such as lung cancer, mesothelioma, and asbestosis. Unfortunately, many buildings constructed before the 1980s still contain asbestos, and their owners may not even be aware of its presence.
