Step 1. Preliminary Assessment

Before conducting an asbestos survey, we carry out a preliminary assessment of the building to identify potential asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) and assess the level of access required. This helps us to determine the type of asbestos survey needed and prepare a detailed plan for the work.

Step 2. Asbestos Survey

We conduct two types of asbestos surveys: Management Surveys (Type 2) and Refurbishment/Demolition Surveys (Type 3). In both cases, we collect samples of suspected ACMs following strict protocols and labelling. We also use non-destructive testing methods, such as visual inspections and thermal imaging cameras, to detect hidden asbestos. We ensure minimal disruption to the building occupants and apply all necessary safety measures.

Step 3. Laboratory Analysis

Once we collect the samples, we send them to a UKAS-accredited laboratory for analysis. The laboratory uses polarised light microscopy (PLM) or transmission electron microscopy (TEM) methods to identify the type and concentration of asbestos present in the samples. We receive the results within 24 to 48 hours, depending on the urgency.
