Put simply, an asbestos survey is a detailed inspection of a property to determine whether there are any asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) present. This includes both visible and hidden materials, such as insulation, ceiling tiles, and flooring.

There are two main types of asbestos surveys:

• Management Surveys: These are designed to identify any ACMs that may be present, and assess their condition and risk of causing harm. The survey will also include recommendations for managing or removing the materials, based on the risk they pose.
• Refurbishment/Demolition Surveys: These are more intrusive surveys that are carried out prior to major works, such as renovations or demolitions. The survey will identify any ACMs that may be disturbed during the works and provide recommendations for safe removal.
